As the name suggests, "Aami Bangali" promises you one of the best Bengali cuisine in the City of Joy. Among its many branches, we visited the one in Ballygunge. Having a convenient location very near to Bancharam sweet shop, it was a perfect place to taste Bengali food with family or friends with a comfortable accommodation for about 30-35 people altogether.

The foremost attraction of the place is its wonderful Bengali decor. Taking a seat, we ordered two "Aampana Sharbat" and two "Chicken Thali". After an hour of wait, dishes served in "Kashar Thala and Bati" (Plates and Bowl made of Bronze) adorned our tabletop.
Not having much to say about the "Aampana Sharbat" (Green Unripe Mango Juice), it was a pleasant combination of the aampana syrup, salt, sugar, masala. Now let's come to the Chicken Thali. The Thali was served with, well cooked, fine quality "Basmati Rice", a bit sweetish "Sonamoong Daal" (Pulses) with Peas and Kismis (Raisins), perfectly matched with crispy "Sonajhuri Alubhaja" (French Fries), and amazingly tasty "Aloo Posto" (Potato cooked with Poppy Seeds). Then comes the most highlighted and the awaited dish of the Thali i.e. the "Chicken Kosha" (Chicken Curry). Each Thali comprised of 2 pieces of Chicken. The lip smacking "Chicken Kosha" although a bit oily but was a perfect blend of different spices and was a great treat to the taste-buds. But the Chicken should have been cooked more since it was not tender and a bit chewy. The "Aam-er Chutney" (Ripe Mango Pickle) made a complete and satisfied end of the meal.
Along with different Thalis, you can also order food from a la carte and do not forget to try their signature dish, "Kochupata Chingri Bhapa" (Taro Leaves cooked with Prawns), which we missed bacause it was unavailable at that time.
Among all the goodwills, the major disappointments about the place were the dearth of food items, improper management of seating arrangement, low number of staffs and late servings.
But above all, we cannot deny that the food was very tasty and the portions were really good and sufficient. If you are a foodie, then keep this eatery in your "must visit" list and we assure that you will really enjoy their extremely delicious traditional Bengali Food and we swear you will not regret to plunge into a perfect  "Bangaliayana" for a day.
